When Seniors can no longer live safely and securely in their homes due to illness or aging, Caring Transitions gives families peace of mind by coordinating all the details of relocating. The move to a retirement community, nursing care center, hospice, or even another family member’s home can sometimes be overwhelming for families. It’s more than just packing boxes with household items and selling a home. It’s also sorting through years of wonderful memories, precious heirlooms, treasured antiques, and personal belongings.

Move Management Services

  • Plan the move (timeline)
  • Interview and get quotes from movers
  • Coordinate moving dates with movers
  • If moving to a retirement community, find out location truck can unload and what elevators to use.
  • Meet movers at old location to facilitate loading
  • Meet movers at new home to facilitate unloading and item placement according to floor plan
  • Schedule utility turn off of old place and turn on of new place
  • Transfer cable service, home entertainment systems and other hook
  • Process change of addresses
  • Ensure overnight bag and important papers are with client.
  • Ensure client is out and about having fun on move day (not on site while moving is taking place


Professional Packing Services

  • Personal belongings
  • Kitchen items (Glasses, dishes, utensils, etc...)
  • Clothing
  • Mirrors, Art, Framed Pictures, & Wall Hangings
  • Provide boxes and packing material

 

Resettling/Right Sizing Services

  • Placement of furniture according to the floor plan.
  • Unpack all items and put them away and/or put them on display like they were in the old home with the exception of boxes we have agreed to place in storage or leave as unpacked.
  • Hang all artwork, family pictures as agreed. Note: some apartments, condos and communities may provide these services after moving day. In those situation, we can identify where pictures should be hung using “blue” painter’s tape. 
  • Make beds and hang all clothing in closets
  • Remove all packing materials and empty moving cartons from the new home.
  • Plug-in all lamps, TVs, clocks, radios, small appliances, etc.…and ensure that they are in working order
  • Spend time with client to walk through the home.
